ART THERAPY: a cREATIVE PATH TO WELLBEING

Hands shaping clay on a work surface.

Art therapy uses drawing, painting, clay, collage, play and more to help explore thoughts or feelings they can’t quite say in words. Whether inspired by a prompt or following their creative flow, each child is gently invited to discover and express what’s inside. As a psychodynamic art therapist, I support this journey by helping translate inner expression into meaningful reflection and insightβ€”without pressure.

The art making process can be guided by your feelings, thoughts and experiences. You may start after a prompt or creating something that comes to mind. The therapist will support and facilitate discussion, helping you gain insight into your emotions and experiences.

Do I need to be good at art?

No, you do not need to be good at art and no experience is necessary.

The focus is not on the artistic quality of the work but on the individual’s inner experiences and the therapeutic process.

I support children, young people, and adults through trauma recovery, brain injury, and neurodivergence using gentle, psychodynamic art therapy. My work helps people express what they may not yet have words for β€” using creative, non-verbal approaches that feel natural and safe.

Unconscious thoughts can shape how we feel and behave. Through art-making and playful exploration, we gently uncover these deeper layers, easing anxiety, processing emotions, and building a stronger sense of self.

I am a fully qualified Art Psychotherapist registered member of BAAT (British Association of Art Therapists), HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) & ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office).
